This Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging course is one of the best in Australia, developed with the know how that comes from decades of providing high quality industry relevant photographic education and award winning, highly employable graduates. As a Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging student, you will graduate job ready with strong industry networks and connections because of our industry focused curriculum, entrepreneurial and marketing subjects and the final year industry mentor program.

Your course lecturers are leading professionals, highly respected and connected in the photography image making industry and these connections often lead to direct job and work experience outcomes for students and graduates. Building a network of external mentors and industry contacts is an important part of the course and is often a pathway to employment and career connections within the creative industries.

In our extensive and unique mentor program, you will work with national and international industry professionals to build those networks and contacts. Studying with us means you become part of a thriving community - a photography and image making network that uses ideas, innovation, and dynamic content to constantly expand and challenge your creative potential.

Throughout the bachelor's degree, you will discover and be immersed in the enormous possibilities of image making in the 21st century!

Starting with a strong focus on ideas, technique and hands-on approaches to your image making, you will be guided through digital workflow, image composition and creative output.

As your creative vision gathers momentum, you will expand your photography to include more complex lighting, narrative, content production and video and moving image.

In the final year of your Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging, you select a major in either commercial photography, photojournalism or art photography. You will be mentored closely and linked to the photographic industry in tangible ways and guided through the professional and business practices you’ll need to establish your career.

Mentoring, attendance at overseas photography festivals, meeting international practitioners and completion of real-world projects, combined with our expert practising teaching staff, ensures that you will graduate career ready in your chosen field with strong professional photography connections.

Non-Year 12 or Mature Age applicants

Non-Year 12 or Mature Age domestic applicants can apply at apply.psc.edu.au and:

Current Year 12 students can apply through VTAC or direct to PSC:

We don’t use ATAR as any part of the admission criteria. Creative chats can be held on campus or via Zoom apply at apply.psc.edu.au.

Photography Studies College actively encourages applications from First Nations Australians.

Special entry assistance scheme (SEAS) applicants

SEAS provides consideration to applicants who can demonstrate they have not been able to reach their full potential due to life circumstances or circumstances beyond their control. PSC participates in the VTAC (SEAS). Applicants can find the details of the SEAS categories and requirements here.

Advanced standing and credit transfer

PSC will ensure that all prospective students with relevant prior experience (RPL) or academic studies (credit transfer) are advised of the possibility of having this prior experience and/or studies taken into consideration. Credit can reduce the amount of study needed to complete a degree.

FEE-HELP is not available for international students. International students' tuition fees are paid up-front annually or per semester.

When you accept your offer and complete your enrolment form, you also choose your tuition fee payment option.

FEE-HELP Tuition Fee Assistance

PSC is an approved FEE-HELP provider.

FEE-HELP is a government loan scheme that assists eligible fee paying students with loans to pay all or part of their tuition fees. It cannot be used for additional study costs such as equipment and materials, accommodation, living expenses or other costs. It is available to Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa who are enrolled in a higher education course.

The PSC First Peoples Equity Scholarship will be awarded each year for up to two applicants identifying as being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent and applying to study for the Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging.

CHOOSE YOUR FOCUS

In your final year of the Bachelor of Photography and Digital Imaging degree, you select a major in either commercial photography, photojournalism or art photography. You will be mentored closely according to your choice of major and guided through the professional and business practices you’ll need to establish your career.

Commercial Photography

The commercial photography major prepares you for a wide range of commercial photography careers. You will develop exceptional skills in creating high quality commercial images, along with professional lighting, digital post-production and video and moving image. In undertaking the commercial major, you will have the choice of an exciting array of careers including fashion photography, portraiture, advertising, architectural, corporate, events, e-commerce product, lifestyle and wedding photography.

Photojournalism

The photojournalism major will ignite your passion for communication and allow you to specialise in this exciting, fast-paced industry. After completing this major, you will have the opportunity to work in a diverse range of international media platforms including visual content production, on-line and digital publishing, moving image and documentary image-making. Graduates engage in a variety of careers involving media, editorial, travel, sport and documentary photography.

Art Photography

The art major allows you to specialise in the world of contemporary art photography, exhibiting and publishing your work nationally and internationally. This program is designed for students wishing to develop their distinctive and individual style and work in the creative industries. You will develop a critical awareness of current art practices, preparing you for graduate study and professional art careers.
