The Bachelor of Screen Media is a future-focused, industry-connected course that equips you with the creative, technical and strategic skills to thrive in today’s fast-evolving media and storytelling landscape.

We've integrated leading AI software tools into the curriculum to ensure graduates are at the forefront of technology and are able to apply these in their creative endeavours and future careers. You’ll graduate with an expansive portfolio, real-world production experience, and the confidence to pursue a diverse range of career paths in film, television, digital content, immersive media, and beyond.

This course has been designed in collaboration with leading screen and media professionals to ensure our curriculum remains industry relevant and cutting-edge. Your lecturers are accomplished media creators, directors, producers and digital artists—active practitioners who bring their industry insight directly into the classroom. Many of our students develop strong professional networks during their studies, often leading to work opportunities and direct career pathways.

As a Screen Media student, you will participate in a robust industry mentor program in your final year, giving you the chance to collaborate with established professionals in film, TV, digital production, and emerging media fields. Whether you’re designing visual effects, directing virtual productions, creating immersive VR experiences or building digital art for live performance, this course prepares you for meaningful employment in creative industries that are increasingly shaped by innovation and new technology.

Graduates from this program go on to work as directors, cinematographers, editors, screenwriters, VFX artists, digital content producers, sound designers, creative technologists, media strategists and more. Many also establish their own studios or creative ventures, backed by entrepreneurial training and a comprehensive creative skillset developed throughout the course.

You’ll become part of a thriving community of screen storytellers, technologists and digital creatives – a network that champions bold ideas, supports creative risk-taking, and embraces the exciting future of media making.

Throughout the Bachelor of Screen Media, you will be immersed in the evolving world of moving image, storytelling and emerging screen technologies, building a dynamic creative skillset for the 21st century.

You’ll begin by developing a strong foundation in both the technical and creative aspects of screen media. From visual storytelling across genres to hands-on experience with camera operation, framing, movement and perspective—you’ll learn to apply cinematic techniques in compelling and original ways. Early on, you’ll be introduced to non-linear editing, sound design, and colour grading, building your capacity to shape meaningful visual narratives.

As you progress, you’ll explore advanced cinematographic techniques such as dynamic lighting, visual composition, and camera movement. You’ll delve into the relationship between image, design and meaning, while crafting experimental projects that integrate CGI and innovative narrative forms.

In your second and third years, you’ll undertake self-directed folio work and major creative projects that explore social, cultural or environmental themes—pushing the boundaries of interactive and multimedia storytelling. You’ll also engage in practical studio-based production, learning to direct and manage controlled set environments while integrating AI and emerging tools into your creative process in both ethical and imaginative ways.

In your final year, you’ll select a major area of focus—commercial screen media or experimental media practices—and work on a significant capstone project. You’ll build industry-level expertise in areas such as special effects, immersive storytelling, screenwriting, and professional-grade video finishing. A suite of elective subjects gives you the flexibility to personalise your learning and expand your creative potential.

Through industry mentoring, collaborative real-world projects, and support from experienced media practitioners, you’ll graduate with the creative vision, technical knowledge and professional confidence to thrive in the fast-changing screen media landscape.
