We have all experienced it before; that feeling of connectedness with a place in which we find ourselves. Unlike those random spaces in which we dwell or through which we pass unmoved, an emotional bond seems present which fosters feelings of belonging, comfort and security.
I am forever curious about this mysterious human interaction with one’s surroundings. For me it doesn’t take much. A colour, a mood or a familiar object with a story to tell, is enough to trigger memories which spark virtual personal journeys. Perhaps it is through such journeys that spaces become places.
Homecoming seeks to explore this concept by casting a photographic gaze over the family home. We enjoy coming home but what tells us we have arrived?
