Updates

COVID-19 Cases at PSC

  • There are no reported cases of PSC staff or students with COVID-19.
  • There are no reported cases of PSC staff or students who have been in contact with someone with COVID-19.
Class Delivery
  • The Victorian Government Stage 4 Restrictions, as revised on Sunday 6 September 2020, require all PSC classes to continue to be delivered in real-time via Zoom off-campus.
  • Under the Governments Roadmap, practical classes that are unable to be delivered remotely can resume on campus from 26 October.
  • All Zoom classes are hyperlinked from your subject / unit miPlace page.Class timetables remain unchanged.

Location Shooting
  • Under the Stage 4 Restrictions, the Government does not allow students to leave their homes for the purpose of study. This includes for the purpose of taking photos. However, PSC has not received any official information that prohibits students from taking photos during their daily exercise time. 
Facilities Status
  • Online Library: running as normal.
  • Studio: closed until 26 October but our Studio Manager Kat Vinella is available via email at usual College hours and via phone on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • The PrintShop@ PSC is open, and taking online orders via ‘Click & Deliver’.  All orders are delivered by Australia Post. Same-day courier service for Melbourne metro also available by quote. No in-person drop-offs or pick-ups are allowed for orders made from 05/08/20, until further advised. Stage 3 Restrictions
  • If you are in an area of Victoria that is currently under Stage 3 restrictions you ARE permitted to leave your home to make creative work for your studies.
  • PSC can provide you with an official letter covering details of Stage 3 restrictions and permission.
  • Please contact your teacher for this letter.
  • Carry your student card with you at all times when out shooting.

Interstate: If you are outside of Victoria please check with your local authorities regarding the level of restrictions.

Communication
  • We will provide a weekly updates to all students and staff via email; and as required with additional information.
  • All teachers are available outside class times via email. They will send responses between 9am-6pm, Monday - Friday.
  • Individual meetings with your teachers will continue via Zoom. Please contact them via email to book.

Attendance
  • Students must maintain attendance requirements.
  • Students must notify their teachers if not able to attend class.
  • In some courses, a medical certificate may be required if you miss more than two sessions in any subject, or more than a week.

International Students
Zoom Tips
  • You don't need to purchase a Zoom subscription.
  • Check miPlace "Zoom For Students" page for all Zoom information.
  • Use a headset, or earbuds with a microphone if possible.
  • Find a quiet room if possible.
  • Join the class 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Working & Studying From Home Tips
  • Make sure to take breaks when needed; you don't need to work 20 hours a day!
  • Keep in touch with friends and family via Skype, FaceTime, email, etc.
  • Stay connected to the PSC community through our Facebook and Instagram.

  • Stay hydrated- drink plenty of fluids.
  • Remember to eat healthy, regular meals.
  • Look after your body! Try a YouTube workout or a short walk outside.
  • Get plenty of sleep.
  • Limit exposure to media if you find it affects your mental health.
  • Communicate! PSC is here to support you the whole time, so reach out if you need to!
Events
  • Some events have been postponed, such as those that require face-to-face contact. Where as others, such as out Image Makers Webinar and our Open Days have been moved to real time via Zoom.
