For graduates and/or creative artists and/or emerging arts professionals with an interest in developing their professional writing technique. This short course will focus on professional writing for publication in the areas of reviews, critical writing, interviews, and feature articles. |
Work with an experienced arts writer and editor to develop your professional writing.
This practical short course will cover the key areas of professional writing and is focused specifically on writing about photography and the creative arts. We will cover the structure and techniques of exhibition and photobook previews and reviews; artist interviews; feature articles; and critical writing. Other areas covered will be concerned with the technicalities of getting published in print and online, pitching articles, working with editors, and editing for publication.
Your lecturer will be Daniel Boetker-Smith; he is a regular writer for The British Journal of Photography (UK), Vault magazine (AUS), European Photography (GER), Paper Journal (UK), Voices of Photography (Taiwan), Heavy (AUS), Source (IRE), & Photoeye (USA). Daniel was previously the Managing Editor of Australian photography magazine Photofile (AUS), and is currently the Dean of Photography at PSC.
