Eyes of Time
Staring into the night sky is looking back in time. Fluorescing lights reach us from faraway constellations after travelling eons. Iʼve seen similar constellations in the eyes of Aboriginal people. Their eyes reflect eternal attachment to an ancient land, time and the red earth which is their ‘countryʼ.
In 2017 I was fortunate to visit Aboriginal communities south and west of Alice Springs in and around the remote Gibson Desert. I photographed proud Pintupi, Warlpiri, Ngardi, Aranda, Walpiri and Pitjandjara people. The images reflect their pride, patience and connection to country and I formed an ephemeral bond which I would like to strengthen in time.
