Learn with industry professionals

The success of PSC is found in the combined strength of the unique program, staff and students. The fact that PSC teaching staff are all industry practitioners adds a strong dynamic to the classroom environment and brings current industry trends and knowledge consistently into the classroom.

At second year level students undertake a unique workplace project, through the Industry Placement module, Photography in the Community project. Each student is allocated an organisation and a specific contact person. During the placement students work either under full direction or quite independently depending on the organisations requirements. Students work over a six to eight week period and are measured against industry standards throughout the placement. Each organisation provides feedback on the student's performance for assessment purposes.

The Industry Orientation program run in the final year of the course ensures that all students secure an industry mentor. Students then spend a minimum of 40 contact hours with their mentor where they are involved in discussions, observations and industry feedback. This program provides a direct link to current practice, fostering a network of contacts and often leading to direct employment outcomes for graduates.
