| PSC offers a unique opportunity to study part time for either one semester, two semesters or for the minimum of four years of the Advanced Diploma of Photography course. This course offers specialisation studies in commercial photography, art photography or photojournalism and is unique in the vocational education and training sector. The course at PSC leaves behind older analogue and chemical based technologies and has been written in close consultation with the photographic industry and educators, to ensure that the latest trends in contemporary photographic practice and digital technologies are the focus of the course from the first year. Throughout the program, you will be required to immerse yourself in an understanding of what the application of photography in the digital world implies; from an emphasis on capture and process, to the digital workflow and digital aesthetic. There is a prominence given to creativity, technical underpinning, conceptual thinking and visual language, and to addressing photography in the context of current and future image creation. By completing this unique program you will be given the opportunity to graduate as a flexible, multi - skilled and technologically savvy professional photographer and more broadly as an image maker; confident to take on a leading role in the global creative economy. Core studies: The three common years include core studies in the following visual & conceptual development, folio production, photographic theory & technique, digital capture, digital imaging, digital aesthetic, lighting, studio photography, design, visual culture, colour management, industry interface and business management for photographers. Final year of specialisation: You will choose one of - commercial photography specialisation or photojournalism specialisation or art photography, plus relevant specialisation studies. In the first year of the part time course, PSC’s convenient semester or year enrolment options ensure that there are choices for everyone - “Since starting the course my view of photography has been totally flipped around. Now I recognise so many different styles and forms; we are learning to realise how photography is integrated into every part of our daily life.” Chris - 1st year student
