MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE – Its Art and Soul Exhibition

In the MARVELLOUS MEBOURNE — Its Art and Soul Exhibition, twenty prominent Victorian artists capture the City’s uniqueness in a delightful array of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs & 3-D artworks.

Images highlight Melbourne’s love of sport and the arts, its beautiful parks &
gardens, fashion focus, laneways & street café life, inner & surrounding suburbs,
transport & shipping industry & unique architecture.

Artists include, painters: Ivan Durrant, Geoff La Gerche, Anne Marie Graham,
Daniel Moynihan, John Spooner, Tom Alberts, James Pasakos, Jim van Geet, ,
Christine Wrest-Smith & Fay Plamka; photographers: Bill Bachman, Peter Garnick, Roger Gould, Thomas Conger & Tony Summers, along with textile artist, Robina Summers, mosaic artist Pamela Irving and street artists, ‘Adnate’ & ‘Slicer’.

Curated by Jacqueline Taylor OAM, MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE is on display
from May 31 until June 30 and is presented by Hilton Melbourne South Wharf and OzLink Entertainment.

SoO Airtime Presents – “Airtime, Showcasing a Passion for Air”

SoO Airtime is the State of Origin of skiing. The best and brightest skiers from Australias two alpine states are grouped according to origin. We team them up with the ski industrys brightest young filmers and photographers and produce short ski films (one per state) over one week at Mt Buller. The films are posted online where the public can vote for the winner.

Featuring the photography of current PSC students and graduates Joey Corcoran, Nick Parkinson and Charlie Payne

Commonwealth Photographic Awards 2011

The Royal Commonwealth Society in London are inviting photographers under 30 to enter their global competition with lots of prizes including flights to London, professional workshops and photographic equipment. The theme is ‘Women as Agents of Change’ with entries closing 1 June 2011.

During the month of August, Victorians will be encouraged to go snap-happy in the annual Evergreen Faces Photographic Competition, designed to challenge the negative stereotypes associated with aging and positively promote people aged 60 and over.  Great prizes up for grabs.

Many of you will know Melanie Faith Dove as an active member of the PSC photographic community – she is a PSC graduate, has taught our Photojournalism major and is an Age photographer. Melanie has a show coming up of her documentary work on the Skipton Floods, shot in Jan 2011, it will be showing in Fed Square:
